Ny samarbetspartner till Stena Match Cup Sweden
Matchracing i sikte för IT-konsulten Sigma


Stena Match Cup Sweden är snart i full gång och bland båtsponsorerna i år är ITkonsulten Sigma med för första gången. Sigma är även evenemangets strategiska ITpartner och har utvecklat en onlinestrategi för att samla den digitala kommunikationen och koppla händelserna på havet närmare publiken.

Audi becomes a new boat sponsor to Stena Match Cup Sweden

Audi is a new partner to Stena Match Cup Sweden. With the new sponsorship, Audi strengthens its engagement in sailing also in Sweden.

For several years, Audi has focused its sponsor investments in sailing internationally, for example as title sponsor in Audi MedCup and as partner in Kieler Woche.Stena Match Cup Sweden is a great opportunity to establish the international sponsor strategy in Sweden.

- Sailing is a favoured sport to many of our customers. Our engagement in Stena Match Cup Sweden gives us a possibility to strengthen Audi’s presence on the west coast as well as providing a good platform to meet with our customers, says Niklas Henning, event- and sponsor manager, Audi Sverige.

Stena Match Cup Sweden is the new name of the event

Sweden's largest annual international sailing event, Match Cup Sweden, is renamed Stena Match Cup Sweden. The new title sponsor Stena makes a joint sponsorship investment for the entire business group.

The new title sponsor Stena has been involved in Match Cup Sweden for a long time. Both Stena Line and Stena Bulk has for many years been boat sponsors in the competition.

“It is fantastic news that Stena chooses to make this investment. A loyal partner choosing to further strengthen their commitment – this is the best rating you can get as an event." says Jan Torstenson, CEO of Brandspot, who organizes Stena Match Cup Sweden in cooperation with GKSS.

About Stena Match Cup Sweden
Stena Match Cup Sweden is one of the largest public events in Sweden and one of ten stages on the world championships series the World Match Racing Tour. The event takes place on Marstrand on July 5-11 this year and draws more than 100 000 visitors each year. Stena Match Cup Sweden is organized by GKSS in collaboration with Brandspot. GKSS is responsible for the sport and Brandspot for the commercial rights.

The Stockholm office has moved to Sveavägen 17, 12 tr.

Brandspot in design focus with SVID
SVID, Stiftelsen Svensk Industridesign, has taken on the the most prestigious design competition in Sweden for students –DESIGN OPEN - in its portfolio. Brandspot and SVID are together looking into the event concept in order for it to suit its partners and the SVID organization. The aim is to develop the competition with a clear entrepreneurial direction and design as an important ingredient. DESIGN OPEN will offer participants a network to facilitate the introduction to the business world – support for future entrepreneurs as well as contacts with potential employers.

Brandspot in Norwegian cooperation with Birkebeiner
Birkebeiner, the Norwegian answer to Vasaloppet, is the largest sport event in Norway with a fantastic expansion the last few years. Brandspot and Birkebeiner are now working to develop the sponsor structure and conform it to suit current and future sponsors’ needs.

Copa del Sol – top European football tournament
Brandspot have just had the pleasure to be involved when IEC in Sports arranged their first football tournament in Marbella, Spain. Copa del Sol took place February 3-12 between the Scandinavian teams IF Elfsborg, Kalmar FF, F.C. Copenhagen, Odense (OB), Rosenborg och Molde as well as CSKA Moscow, Russia and Shaktar Donetsk, Ukraine. The tournament was broadcasted in 20 countries around the world and available on web-TV on several sites.

"Beautiful posters which illustrations combine nostalgia and modernity in a perfect way. Colours in harmony that elevates the greatness of the illustrations." These are the jury's comments to the winner of the Swedish Design Award Gold in the advertising category. - This is quite inspiring, says Jan Torstenson, CEO Brandspot. We are very fond of the concept ourselves and we think Milk has done a great job. Also, it's very nice to hear that many people share our thoughts. The graphical concept for Match Cup Sweden was designed for the race last summer, 2009, and has been honoured by several design media during the year.

Brandspot activities nominated for awards
Brandspots two activities Match Cup Sweden 2009 and the quality magazine The Island are nominated for important Swedish design and publication awards.

The top class magazine The Island, produced by Aller Custom Publishing is nominated for the Swedish Publishing Prize 2009 in the category “Information Magazine”. The winner will be made public the 15th October 2009 in Stockholm.

Match Cup Sweden got a new graphical concept 2009. Earlier honoured by a number of design media, now it’s nominated for Sweden’s most important design award. The successful retro concept, produced by the agency MILK , is nominated for the Swedish Design Award in the category “Advertising Print”. The winner is presented the 8th October 2009 in Stockholm.

Volvo Ocean Race Stockholm Stopover
In June 2009 the Volvo Ocean Race Stockholm Stopover was launched. The Stopover was the largest event in Sweden during 2009, with 750 000 visitors in the Race Village at Skeppsbron in Stockholm. Brandspot, with our CEO Jan Torstenson as commercial manager for the event, developed the sponsor structure including packaging of the commercial rights for the Stockholm Stopover. Moreover Brandspot was responsible for the sponsor sales including sponsor service during the event. The event was greatly appreciated by all involved – partners, visitors and sailors.

Event Stockholm Network
On June 23rd, in conjunction with the Volvo Ocean Race in Stockholm, the first edition of Event Stockholm Network was arranged. The event aimed to inspire event-owners and organizers to see Stockholm as an interesting arena. Brandspot, on behalf of Stockholm Visitors Board, project led the day, which included the seminar set-up with interesting speakers and time for mingling and networking. 270 guests from the event- and tourism industry attended and listened to Blanca Fullana, CEO for Edelman Spain, Julian Stubbs from Gyro International and Knut Frostad, CEO Volvo Ocean Race.

Vasaloppet summer week
Vasaloppet and Brandspot have together developed a strategy and reorganized the sponsor structure to include activities year round. Recently the “Vasaloppet summer week” was successfully completed. The event took place at the Vasalopp Arena from Sälen to Mora and included “CykelVasan”, a mountain bike competition, “VasaStafetten”, a running relay and “StavgångsVasan”, a Nordic walking event. Now the countdown for Vasaloppet winter week and the classical Vasaloppet on the first Sunday in March 2010 has started! Since this summer Brandspot, through our co-worker Malin Eldh, also act as sponsor manager for Vasaloppet during Anna Hanspers’ maternity leave.

Corporate Event Marketing Forum
The 2nd of July our next Corporate Event Marketing Forum took place in Marstrand, during Match Cup Sweden. René de Keyzer, founder and CEO of XL Video and Tobias Ekman, Nordic Partnership Director Live Nation talked about new concepts and opportunities in the entertainment- and event industry. The next topic was about the importance of “thinking small” on all levels to turn the business cycle. Speakers were Johan Staël von Holstein, CEO IQube, Gunilla Almgren, Vice President of Business Sweden AB and Jonas Bauer, president Vasaloppet.

On the 18th of March Brandspot organized Corporate Event Markering Forum in Stockholm. The seminar was arranged in co-operation with the Swedish Ski Federation and in connection to the Royal Palace Sprint. Ola Zetterberg, Stockholm Business Region, presented their vision to make Stockholm the leading event city of Scandinavia. Peter Nygårds, Swedbank, presented Swedbank Arena and why Swedbank has become the title sponsor of the arena. Corporate Event Marketing Forum was lead by Lars Adaktusson.

Vasaloppet Business Forum
Vasaloppet Business Forum was held in Mora, on the 26th of February, during the Vasaloppet winter week.

The day was filled with lectures about Lean Production and the link between stress and sleep. In the afternoon a panel discussion took place. The subjects discussed were sustainable development and the importance with cooperation between the business and the society and large events part when it comes to the environment. The discussion was lead by Alice Bah Kuhnke. 

2009 was the starting point for this event – a meeting spot for the society, the business world and the sport. The Vasaloppet Business Forum is a joint venture between Vasaloppet and the organisation Wajrum. Brandspot is the organizer.

The latest MeetingSpot event was carried through by Brandspot in Gothenburg on the 30th of January. The sailing forum was a success with up to 200 visitors listening to the latest news within International and Swedish sail racing.
